Guiding For Providing Godly Counsel
As psychologists we subscribe to the standards of conduct and ethics as outlined by the American Psychological Association as well as the American Association of Christian Counselors.
1.
Persons referred for counseling are respected at all times for their current spiritual decisions and choices. It is not the mission or this purpose of this counseling to convert persons to the practice of a particular religion or spiritual discipline. It is out mission to reflect Christ-like wisdom and leadership in all of our actions and to demonstrate professionally sound counseling practice.
2.
"We rely not on man's wisdom but on the wisdom that comes from God and is revealed by the Holy Spirit." - 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:16
3.
Goals in therapy always include encouraging faith, facilitating a personal relationship with God, comforting in times of distress, and seeking purposeful living for every client.
4.
Sound principles of practice from the field of psychology are used to support spiritual interventions and are not abandoned in the service of spiritual counsel.
5.
The counselor has acknowledged and understood that all counseling has biblical principles as its foundation for understanding psychological matters. The explicit use of such principles are case specific.
