We believe emotional healing is absolutely possible, dialectics are central, and collaboration is necessary, beneficial, and fruitful.
Yolette Johnson, LAC
Yolette is a licensed associate counselor with more than 10 years of experience in the field of mental health. Her work cultivates exploration and development of self-identity within community members. Yolette is committed to the progression of mental health within marginalized communities through mindfulness practices and counseling modalities tailored to the client’s needs. She is certified in Heart-Centered Connections, an alternative to trauma informed care created by Dr. Niki Elliot of Laverne University. It promotes healthy co-regulation through grounding, breath work, and body awareness. Yolette has served in the mental health space as a residential treatment adolescent counselor and adult counselor in the areas of substance use, grief, personal growth, anxiety, and depression.

Yolette has shifted her focus to couples counseling. Companionship and connection are not the only components to an affluent romantic relationship. Individuals must honor their partners and learn to adjust to their partner’s evolving characteristics. Yolette is passionate about recentering and maintaining the commitment that couples have for one another through reflective listening, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Based Therapy (SFBT), identifying attachment styles, and deepening intimacy.

Currently, Yolette is working towards her independent professional counseling licensure. Beyond emphasizing mental health, Yolette is active within her surrounding community. She is a volunteer at Heart and Soil People’s Garden in Downtown Phoenix, where she teaches and models farming for Black families to permeate and cultivate their own fresh food. Her family is her priority and she loves spending her leisure time with them hiking and gathering around healthy meals!
